Well, the glitter season has certainly hit Summercroft with full force this week! A massive, ‘thank you’ to all the parents and carers who volunteered to risk contamination with all things glue and glitter based to join in with Decoration Day. The children looked full of colour in their Christmas jumpers and the traditional Christmas songs could be heard playing around both buildings. The centre piece to the decorations in the Infant building has to be the fabulous Nativity backdrop prepared so meticulously by Mrs Webb! Children from years 1 and 2 helped to bring, ‘A Creepy Crawly Christmas’ to life and the end result is stunning. We’re so grateful to Mrs Webb for continuing to lead on this despite her ‘retirement’ from Summercroft! In fact, it was lovely to see so many of our ‘Summercroft Family’ return to help for the day: Ms Matthews, Mrs Evans, Mrs Hughes, Mrs Jones and Mrs Gapper!
In the key stage 2 building, a Christmas post box will be arriving in the library shortly. Children are invited to post cards for their friends; envelopes should be marked with both first names and surnames, as well as the class name. Unfortunately, we are unable to deliver beyond the school gates! In the key stage 1 building, individual teachers organise the delivery of cards between classes. We encourage recycling of white envelopes.
Many thanks to the PTA for organising the disco and stalls for children this evening and I’m sure that it will be an enjoyable event. The bulk of the work always falls on a small number of individual parents and I know how much they appreciate support in manning the stalls and helping to clear up afterwards.
