It’s been another very busy fortnight in year 2. Our maths learning has been very ‘hands on’ and as you can see from the photos the children having learnt about measures. Oak and Holly class did a series of standing jumps, measured the distance in centimetres, and finally entered this data on to a table. The photo with maths resources on the table was taken during maths week- the children were solving a ‘maths maze’ and chose resources to help them (choosing appropriate equipment is something we encourage lots across year 2). Our Fire of London topic provided a fantastic base for some art & design and the children loved making Tudor houses out of cereal boxes (thanks for providing these!), then using yellow, orange and red tissue paper to make flames. Finally, we had some disappointing news when the Fire Service cancelled their visit (they were called out to an emergency) but we hope to get another date in the diary soon.
