Reception began our new term looking for and exploring the signs of Spring. We went on a hunt around the school grounds to see what Spring flowers we could find. We saw tulips, daisies, bluebells, daffodils, hyacinths, pansies and crocuses! The children recorded what they found and we have had some wonderful descriptive writing in our adult led activities.
Last week we celebrated the Queen’s 90th birthday and the children thoroughly enjoyed dressing up as the queen, making crowns and flags and asking questions about the Queen’s dogs. We made some birthday cards for her which we have sent to Buckingham Palace for the Queen to read – how lucky she is!
This week we have been learning about Saint George’s day and celebrating what it means to be British! We looked at the skills needed to make a sturdy flag, which led to us researching flags for some other countries. Dylan described to us what a New Zealand flag looked like and how it was similar to our Union Jack flag.
