Thursday 8th June was a rather big day on the calendar this year, not just for the UK but also for year 5. Earlier in the week the children formed their own political parties, created a manifesto and canvassed for votes. They were enthusiastic in their approach and showed great conviction and commitment to their party beliefs. Then on voting day there was nothing more for they could do (except run the polling station in the hall for the rest of the school to come and vote). There was an excellent turn out to vote – far more than the national average! On Friday, after the votes had been counted and verified (in a secret location) the winning party was announced – the FLUNCH party were successful in gaining the highest number of votes. It will now be up to them to form a cabinet with Mrs Hinstridge and try to negotiate to have some of their policies implemented. Good luck to them!
Thursday was also the culmination of all year 5’s work to produce products to sell in their Market Day Sale. The stalls looked great and there was a super turnout of customers. All groups managed to make a profit with an overall profit of more than £300. Thank you to all those who came along to support the sale. Half of the profit will be given to a charity of year 5’s choice while the other half will be for year 5 to spend on something for themselves. An amazing result. Well done year 5!
