This week all of KS2 were voting for the Picture Book Awards which are being held at The Literature Festival in February. The books are: ‘Oi Dog’, ‘Odd Dog Out’, ’Tidy’, ‘A Book of Bear Spotting’, ‘This Book is Out of Control’, ‘Max and Bird’, ‘The Koala Who Could’, ‘A Dog Called Bear’ and ‘A Child Of Books’.
First we got ourselves into groups of six. Then we chose a book to read and we discussed it, then we swapped over until we had read all of them. After that we had a blind vote for our favourite. We’re not allowed to say what we picked and we can’t wait to see which book eventually wins – but I hope it’s the one that I picked.
Some people think that picture books are for young kids but Year 6 know that you can get a lot out of picture books, maybe even more than novels because in novels you usually can’t see pictures and you can learn lots from pictures .
