There has certainly been a wonderful Christmassy feel to the school over the past couple of weeks. We have celebrated with our traditional Christmas Carol Service at All Saints as well as the more quirky take on the nativity with a ‘Creepy Crawly Christmas’ and ‘Miracle in Town’. In amongst all of this was our 2 day inspection with Ofsted! In true Summercroft Style, all the staff rallied round and it was business as usual.
I should like to share a couple of achievements from our dedicated team. Mrs Annette Burns has completed her CACHE Level 3 Aspergers course and passed with distinction! After many months of training, course work and assessments, Miss Katie Webster has passed her level 3 Forest Schools Practitioner Award. I know how much the children enjoy the Forest School’s sessions and how passionate Miss Webster is about children learning from our environment. Congratulations to both.
From January we welcome Mrs Louise Greenhill to the teaching team and hope that she will be happy working at Summercroft. Mrs Greenhill will be working in Chestnut class on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with Mrs Bugg completing the week.
Sadly, I have to share with you that Miss Lowton will be leaving us on Wednesday to take up a new role at Little Ladybirds Pre School. Miss Lowton has worked with us for just over 2 years and I know that parents have valued her nurturing approach with children. We wish her every happiness in the future. Unfortunately, there has been very little response to the advert seeking a suitably qualified replacement. In the short term, we will cover the position internally whilst continuing to seek a permanent early years practitioner.
Are you also able to offer an hour and 15 minutes to support our young people at lunch time? Our MSAs play an invaluable role, keeping children safe and productively busy during the middle of the day. If you would like to find out more, please contact the office to arrange to shadow one of our MSAs to see how rewarding it can be! We look for people who enjoy organising games with the children and who don’t mind being outside in all sorts of weather!
Thank you for your continued support and I hope that you have a wonderful Christmas break with your families. I look forward to seeing you back at 8.50am on Thursday 5th January 2017
