What a great term we have had! Sadly, we are reaching the end of our topic on dragons. The children have been so immersed in their learning that they have even been creating work linked to our topic in their free time too! It’s been lovely to see.
Over the past two weeks, our focus in English has been Creation Myths and we have been reading some of Rudyard Kipling’s ‘Just so’ stories. We have been speaking, planning and writing our own stories about ‘How the Dragon Got His Fire.’ There were interesting ideas for this, such as: he ate a hot chilli sauce or he swallowed a flaming meatball!
We have also been learning a dragon poem and have enjoyed performing it and adding actions. If you came to our end of term ‘Showcase’, hopefully you enjoyed our performance!
In Maths, we have been reading different scales. We took thermometers outside and looked at how the temperature changed depending upon where we left them. The children were able to state why in certain areas the temperature was higher or lower using scientific thinking. This is another excellent example of cross curricular learning.
