After coming back from half term, Year 5 headed straight over to Birchanger Woods in order to find what types of trees we have in our local area. We took with us a leaf identification kit and the children became nature detectives, sifting through the fallen autumn leaves to try and complete their set. We brought a few of our favourites back with us and used them as our inspiration for some marbling. Vincent Van Gogh’s unique style of painting also contributed to some fabulous paintings in class, with his famous ‘Wheat Fields with Cypresses’ being recreated in Summercroft style! In English, there were also some incredible poems about trees, which we hung on our fabulous poetry trees. Once more the children blew us away with their creativity.
