Over the last couple of weeks in maths, we have been learning about weight, length and mostly capacity. We have thoroughly enjoyed it, especially when we chose a variety of containers measuring and estimating the water inside it. Firstly Mrs Richardson and Mr Carter needed to know if we could read scales because how are you going to do the complicated things if you can’t even do the simple things. They got pictures of scales and we wrote down how much it had on the scale or measuring jug. After that, the scales/jugs got harder and they threw in some word problems as well but we only spent a couple of days on that because Year 6 were so good at reading scales we went to the complicated stuff straight away. Mrs Richardson and Mr Carter were amazed (even though they didn’t show it) and we also did lots of fun things such as measuring each other, and estimating lengths of objects around the classroom.
