Cheerleading, Football and Hockey Updates
Cheerleading
The Summercroft Tigers took part in a Cheerleading Competition at Birchwood in October. Eight schools took part from across Bishop’s Stortford.
The Tigers performed an amazing routine to ‘Giant’ by Rag ‘n’ Bone Man and were the winners of the first round!
After the second round Manor Fields Flyers were declared overall winners but the Tigers should be very proud of themselves and represented Summercroft brilliantly.
A-Team Football – KAS League Fixture vs St Joseph’s
On Tuesday 22nd October, the football A Team participated in their third KAS league fixture of the season against St Joseph’s School. Once again, all of the members of the team gave nothing less than 100% effort and did us all proud. Despite losing the game 1-4 with the score being 0-4 at half time, the children did achieve the target set of them at half time to win the second half of the game. The team is getting better with every game and we look forward to our next A Team game on Tuesday 5th November at Thorn Grove.
Thank you for your continued support.
BSP Hockey Festival
On Thursday 24th October, thirty children from Year 6 represented Summercroft at the BSP Hockey Festival. The children were separated into three teams, A, B and C. The A team competed in the Gold Cup competition whilst the B and C teams competed in the plate matches – each team playing 4 league fixtures in the hope of progressing through to their respective finals.
Despite having limited training sessions together as a team, the children worked hard to perform excellently on an individual and team level. There truly were some brilliant pieces of skill and commitment on display for all to see.
The C-team won all of their league games, reaching the final of their pool. However, unfortunately they were narrowly beaten 0-1 on the final by Ferneux Pelham.
Even though the B-Team did not reach the final of their pool, they fought hard as a team, impressing during their league fixtures.
Finally, the A-Team also won all of their league fixtures, making it through to the semi final of the Gold Cup where they played Windhill 21. Thankfully, the A Team continued their good form and won the match by two goals to nil, qualifying for the final against Richard Whittington. It was a hard fought final between two evenly matched teams, which could only be settled by a single goal during extra time from….Summercroft! The A-Team performed magnificently, boasting the record of both top scorers in the competition and the only team to not concede a single goal! The A Team will now go on to represent Bishops Stortford in July at the county finals.
Thank you for your continued support.
