The end of last term finished on a real high, with a terrific trip to Hatfield Forest. The children took part in two different activities – a bug hunt and den building. The Hatfield Forest staff were extremely impressed by our children’s scientific knowledge when identifying different mini-beasts and by their collaboration and ‘can-do’ attitude during the den building. We also received a very kind and positive message from the education leader at Hatfield Forest after the trip, who praised the children’s impeccable behaviour and supportive attitude towards each other. The Year 2 team are extremely proud, and the children should be too!
Since returning from the holidays we’ve started our new topic – growing. The children have already started learning about how plants grow and they have also put a bean seed in a plastic bag. Over the coming days they will observe whether or not it germinates and keep a diary about it.
We have also started rehearsals for the Year 2 music festival! This is a fantastic project where schools from in and around Bishop’s Stortford all rehearse the same songs and then come together at the Rhodes Centre for a final performance. Our performance will be on Friday 22nd June and details will follow soon about what will happen on the day and how you can buy tickets.
As ever, thanks for your continued support,
The Year 2 Team
