What an exciting welcome back after the school holidays that our new playground markings on the Key Stage 2 playground had been painted courtesy of a donation from the PTA. The children have already been making good use of them at break times and for active maths lessons across the whole school. We chose markings that would support learning and make it fun. A few of the activities so far include the qwerty keyboard for spelling out messages, the clock face large enough for children to be the hands, ten grids, abacus frames and 100 grid for place value work and calculating, circular linked numberline, Venn diagrams for set work as well as mirror me coloured feet for copying dance moves. We still have a hopscotch grid so the children can play games from the past. It’s been lovely seeing the use they have been making of it already and the quality of the maths talk whilst having fun- the children don’t realise how much learning is going on!
Thank you to the PTA for providing this fun resource for all the children at Summercroft. If you haven’t seen them yet, do check them out.
