Year 6 had a very busy week last week as SATs week finally arrived. It was great to see the children turning up early to enjoy breakfast together—huge thanks to Mrs Dawson and Mrs Perry who organised and ran the breakfast club. Every morning the children turned up with positive can-do attitudes and big smiles on their faces, even if they’d been feeling nervous at home! On the first morning, the children found lucky pennies around the room, and they also received doves (a symbol of peace) from the prayer group to keep them calm during their tests. Thank you to the prayer group for this thoughtful gesture.
During the tests, the children really impressed all the adults who were supporting them. They were confident and demonstrated excellent understanding—all the preparation was worth it!
The Year 6 team, and additional adults, were wowed by the children. Each and every one demonstrated all of our learning powers throughout the week and in the approach to the SATs. What a brilliant bunch they are! Not only did they work their socks off, but they kept a great sense of fun throughout. We couldn’t be prouder of them. Thank you parents for all your support at home, and huge thanks too to the adults who gave their time to come and administrate the tests.
We’re now looking forward to a brilliant Ozzy Bay trip and putting on the best show the Rhodes has ever seen! By the time the children come home, they will know their parts and have their scripts, ready to get practising over the half term holiday.
Wishing you a relaxing and peaceful break, with lots of sunshine!
The Year 6 team.
