Following on from last week, the children became authors by changing part of the story of Handa’s Surprise. To begin with the children worked in groups to describe different fruits and animals from the story. From this the children then thought of their own fruit and animals they could add. The children were determined to complete the explosive challenge by adding adjectives into their sentences. We had a variety of sentences such as ‘The clever hippo took the sweet strawberry’ and ‘The fierce lion took the furry kiwi’. We were very impressed with the children’s imagination and their interesting adjectives. Taking inspiration from Handa’s village, the children created their own clay mud huts complete with straw roofs, that vary in size!
We know the children have worked incredibly hard this first half term and we hope you have a lovely break. Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you after half term ready for the Christmas fun!
