Sadly, we are reaching the end of our topic on dragons. It has been lovely to see that the children in Oak and Holly Classes have been so immersed in their learning that they have even been creating work linked to our topic in their free time too!
Over the past two weeks, our focus in English has been storytelling, inspired by the book ‘Zog’ by Julia Donaldson. We practised speaking the story before having a go at retelling it from a different character’s perspective. It was a little tricky but everyone persevered. We have also been learning a dragon poem and have enjoyed performing it and adding actions. If you come to our end of term ‘Showcase’, hopefully you will have the opportunity to enjoy watching us perform it as a year group.
In science, we have been learning about food groups and healthy eating. We had a go at designing a balanced meal and we are beginning to understand why we need to eat more or less of particular foods.
Our topic work over the past couple of weeks has been about understanding how the story of Saint George and the Dragon forms part of our nation’s history and why we remember the legend.
It has been a very busy and long half term and the children, who have worked very hard, are in need of a well-deserved rest. There will be no homework over half term….but do keep looking for dragons!
