Our enterprise topic is well underway and the children have loved making pots and planting herb seeds inside, which will then be available to buy! The children are also making bird feeders. We are hoping that our costs will comfortably be covered and we will be in profit, and this money will, of course, be invested in something special for the children across Year 2.
The children have also finished their SATs. These are statutory tests taken in May of Year 2 in reading and mathematics. To ease the stress and anxiety of the children we have never referred to them as tests, or SATs. Instead we have always called them ‘maths challenges’ or ‘reading challenges’ and, as far as the children are concerned, they have been a normal part of the day.
The afternoons have been extremely busy and, on top of our enterprise topic we mentioned at the beginning, the children have been learning quick cricket in PE, life cycles in science, and we are also rehearsing for the Year 2 singing festival.
We hope that you all have a restful half term break and look forward to the final half term!
The Year 2 Team.
