We have had such an exciting start to our Carnival topic this term. Year 1 and 2’s focus are the carnivals of India so we have been immersing ourselves in Indian culture. We have tried some Indian foods and learnt how the climate in India means different herbs and spices grow there compared to the UK. We also had great fun trying out some Bollywood dance moves!
As the weather hopefully(!) improves we are playing the national sport of India, cricket, on the field in PE and will begin to start honing our athletic skills ready for sports day next half term.
Thank you for providing a t-short for your child to bring into school; following our RE lessons on the Indian festival of Holi we are going to recreate the excitement and atmosphere of the festival by throwing paint onto the t-shirts ready to wear for our carnival parade at the end of the half term.
In science our topic is plants and what these living things need in order to survive. We have planted beans and are watching eagerly for them to germinate. We hope that everyone is going to have a healthy bean plant to take home at the end of the term!
