Year 2 have been busy working on our new forest topic. We began our topic by looking at a picture from the book ‘The Tin Forest’ by Helen Ward. We have used it to inspire our writing and have worked hard to produce creative writing about rainforests.
We have linked our forest learning to our science work and have been using our scientific knowledge to classify and group different animals, in particular those that live in rainforest habitats. We have also used this information in computing to make branching databases.
In maths, the children have been problem solving using multiplication and division. They are also beginning to reason about number, using number facts to support them.
We are looking forward to our visit to Hatfield Forest at the end of the half term, which will hopefully bring to life all of our learning.
